WHY IT MATTERS
Graduates often face the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives at once, securing transportation, housing, and steady work while protecting their sobriety. Many have not experienced stable, independent living in years, if ever. Here are four barriers they face, and how Solid Ground NC helps.
THE BARRIER
Even when employed, graduates leave treatment with little savings, often not enough for transportation, housing deposits, and basic costs. Many have not yet had the chance to build money management skills.
HOW WE HELP
An affordable program fee that includes housing, with no large deposit to get started. Financial education helps residents build a spending plan, save for larger expenses, and work toward full financial independence.
THE BARRIER
Many graduates have drug-related charges, sometimes felonies or past incarceration, that cause housing applications to be turned down.
HOW WE HELP
Time and a track record. One year of treatment followed by up to two years in our program puts distance between residents and their past and shows lasting change. Solid Ground NC is also building relationships with landlords who understand our program.
THE BARRIER
Some graduates have no credit history, having never held utility accounts or a taxable salary. Others have poor credit from bankruptcy or unpaid bills.
HOW WE HELP
Residents build a documented record of on-time program fees they can show future landlords. An affordable fee also leaves room in their budget to pay down past debts and court costs.
THE BARRIER
The physical effects of addiction may fade after a year of treatment, but the emotional effects can last for decades. Leaving the support and accountability of treatment makes it easier to fall back into old patterns.
HOW WE HELP
We provide a community designed for connection, with neighbors on the same path and mentors who invest in participants. Regular check-ins add accountability, so residents stay supported as they step into independence.
HOW IT WORKS
Each phase builds on the last. Check-ins and program fees initially occur weekly and step back to bi-weekly, and then monthly as residents show they are ready for more independence. Residents also attend recovery meetings such as AA, NA, Celebrate Recovery, or Recovery Alive.
PROGRAM FEES
Residents pay an affordable program fee that includes their housing. The fee is set to leave room in their budget to save, pay down past debts, and plan for what comes next.
No large deposit
Residents can get started without the up-front costs that often block housing after treatment.
A schedule that grows with you
Fees step from weekly to biweekly to monthly, building the habits of independent living.
A record that opens doors
On-time payments are documented to support future housing applications.
